Suren Das College, Hajo, established on 29th August, 1979, is the only nerve centre of higher education in the greater Hajo area. The institution was formerly known as Hajo Anchalik College and was housed in the premises of S.B.S.K.R. Higher Secondary School, Hajo.
The dream and untiring efforts of a group of benevolent persons and educationists of Hajo area led to the creation of this institute. Contributions from organizations such as the No. 1 Hajo Gaon Panchayat Samabay Samity have played a key role in the development of the college, including the donation of the science building.
